For a little less than a month we have known that Brian was moving with his job to Rifle Colorado. Rifle is located along the Interstate 70 and near where we had a reunion in Glenwood Springs.. a hour from Rifle west is Grand Junction, and 4.5 hours east is Denver. A absolutely beautiful part of the country. He has been talking about the possibility and the hope that the job would be his. And then he found out he got the position in Colorado, headed out there for 12 days or so and just flew home after signing the lease on an apartment and working in a couple of states while out there. He will be on the road with the widespread clients that are out there to service for the oil industry. Brian is very excited that in three weeks he will be starting an adventure in a beautiful area of the country. So June 23rd he heads with his truck and a trailer to the Wild West frontier.
I get home from the airport and Shane has great, great news that he has been asked without even applying to take a 4 month fire season in Washington on a hand crew starting June 7 through September.. He knows alot of guys that are going, and the Santa Fe Springs Wildland Academy Captain Bennett called him and offered him the job.. that is a great thing that word of mouth on the part of the captain here who knows him. He has talked to several fire friends tonight who mentor him, or are in charge of the Auxilliary that he does his volunteer hours for, and they all have just encouraged him to take the job that they would do it. So now he's waiting for Captain Bennett to return his call so he can accept the job. The auxilliary fireman in charge told him he would start the paperwork for his volunteer hours to be suspended so he could pick it back up when he returns. It would require him and the guys who are going up that want to carpool have to drive up there as well. And it's a paying gig..
We will have an empty house!!!!!!!! Ashley has been in Texas for over 2-3/4 years, and then Brian who had moved out for about 6 months, and moved home about 1-1/2 years ago. So this will be the first period of time (4 months) where we won't have any kids living at home.. It will be weird for sure. Ha Ha
