while I started like Wednesday to make a list for the things I/We would need for our trip to Alaska, it was mostly pulled out of the closet. Yes there was a couple of new things like a lightweight jacket water proof from the sporting goods store, and I got a couple new pairs of pants.. It seemed kind of daunting on Wednesday I'd get anything packed when Ashley and I ran errands, had lunch at Chik Fil A, and then spent a couple hours at the beach after I got home from work. Pulled it all off on Thursday, got Gregs stuff into a suitcase that night and mine done today... We are actually sitting here watching the Olympics and twiddling our thumbs just waiting for tomorrow morning when we leave for the airport at 6:30am.. I truely thought I'd still be figuring out what was going or not going and not having much sealed up in a bag.
Today when I went to work, I'd have to say that while we were at the river last week, I got so chilled out that well, I just never got into the work groove AT ALL.. Not one day of the week did I get antsy, stressed or uncertain as to whether I'd catch up and or get ahead for the next 7 work days off. I got the work done, but with Ashley still in town, each day was out early. And no one died... go figure! It also helped that the noisest and neediest of my supervisors who is very new was also on vacation. He talks alot and relies on me more so than the other veteran supervisor that I work for. It was a refreshing week to just be chill. I literally felt like when I left this morning I was skipping along tossing rose petals out of my basket I was so lighthearted and calm. A normal exit for vacation can feel more like a nervewracking doubting questions of "did I complete this", "did I email that person about such and such" and often kicking myself because something wasn't done.. Nope not with the trip to the river, nor this one.. I think the realization that my OCD for details is missed on the two supervisors and when I come back they "didn't hear me say that" or "oh, I didn't know you had that ready to go" so my lowered expectation of them makes the most sense that I chill out as well in the preparedness that isn't required. If that's as clear as mud, I apologize.. it made sense to me.. they will muddle through and I'll just pick up the pieces when I get back... haha
Well, I took an ambien and it's time for bed as the wake up call allows me to sleep in an extra hour and I can use it.
talk to you around Aug 15th when I'll check back in with the internet world..
