Alright, I have nearly given up any newscast in the last year (mainstream media boycott) and during the election chose foxnews channel or its website for what little bit of input I needed about ANYTHING. Now it isn't so much that I have no compassion for what is going on that would be reported about what is considered news in the world. But the overwhelming entertainment overload of celebrity stories that the major channels led with on CBS, NBC, ABC was the opening story and about all of those not going to be named people as though they were close family gossip amongst our own family reunions. I DON'T KNOW THEM NOR DO I want to hear about there lives ever changing details of partying, jail stints, one nighters there surprised are over already, breakups of the casual dinner daters, marriages, swapping, infidelity, divorces, rehab stints.... are you feeling me as to it's irrelevant and sad that there is enough interest in those who do wish to peer in that it has the media doing anything and everything to bring it to the world. Excuse me, there is War, famine, drought, hunger, torture, brokenness, to bring to light for compassion and action. And there is plenty of good things going on in America of those who step up for mankind, a Compton Initiative started with our church 3 years ago where thousands get together to paint, prune, clean, spruce up homes, schools, parks, THAT KIND OF PICK UP YOUR SOUL journalism that will inspire those who are unable to donate $5 bucks to millions of green backs, but would donate 4 hours to humanity... That is what is missing from the airwaves. go to ERC.LA and check it out and get involved in doing good. Gal 6:10 do not grow weary doing good......
My second thing I wish to blow steam off about is election coverage before and after; OMG grow up and be the civil society that we claim the rest of the world should seek to want.. We teach our kids from a young age to play in sporting competitions to the best of their ability, and when the game is over and someone will be a winner or the loser decided on by score (unless you live in Orange County, CA no score is kept so junior is ALWAYS a winner) but than you as either the gracious winner or gracious loser, meet the team in the middle and shake hands or high five and say "good game".. But in the adult world, we conduct a long drawn out and expensive bid for the white house. (why do we have budgeting problems, when so much money goes down the drain) During the election and/or when it's over and decided, media broadcasters are mean, unkind, mean spirited, blamers, slanderous, boastful, self righteous, pretenders.. Why can't it just be gracious winning, and gracious losing and wish the other person well and than move onto the business of running government without so much ugly commentary. But than again, I've turned off those stations and go back to the Discovery, History, Western movie channels and relax!
