While I haven't any idea how long this entire process will really take. I was a bit taken aback today while speaking with Tammy the manager, who called me, and as she's talking, mentions that a surgical date that will be put into the letter being drafted for insurance is February 6.... UGH! The dollar signs were quickly rolling through my mind as Tammy was explaining what was going on from "her perspective". Thankfully I had talked with Natalie the scheduler on Friday and so am still holding onto the belief that there is a chance for 2008 if approval comes. And Tammy did say that it would be up to Natalie and the dr's schedule...
Tammy's report to me was that Debra my case manager and Natalie were getting together this afternoon. So if enough information has been pulled together to make the first attempt as good as any appeal letter, than we will be good to go. She said to give the process the rest of the week and if I hadn't heard anything, call next Monday.... I added a few of my 2-cent suggestions that would help the doctor; when he has a case such as this that he could lay it out to the patient a little more explanatory so that if there is a situation of insurance/money issues, they can be started sooner rather than later. Hence I would have given the okay two months earlier rather than wating. unaware of what was involved. And secondly, that there office have some basic bullet points of what information makes for the best letter for the tough cases, so that the dr.'s time was focused at one time rather than in splinters of chasing him for it.
So unless I get a call sooner, I'll be waiting patiently (yes patiently)
